The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facility systems used in the manufacturing, testing, and repair of electrical transformers. This role ensures minimal downtime, maintains safety and compliance standards, and supports continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on transformer production and testing equipment, such as winding machines, core cutters, oil filtration systems, ovens, and vacuum chambers.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Inspect and maintain plant utilities (compressed air, HVAC, lighting, etc.).
- Coordinate with production teams to minimize equipment downtime and ensure efficient workflow.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and equipment calibration documentation.
- Assist in installation, setup, and commissioning of new production equipment.
- Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for equipment failures.
- Adhere to all safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects (5S, Lean, TPM initiatives).
- Maintain safe, clean, and orderly workstation.
- Other assigned duties as needed.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical diploma or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment (experience with transformer or electrical equipment production a plus).
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, motors, and control panels.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
- Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization. Notify management immediately of any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders.
- Meet department and production goals set by supervisor.
- Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.
- Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail and can work in a team environment.
