Academic Advising

Job Description

The Associate Director provides high-level leadership in planning, assessing, and enhancing academic advising operations. This role ensures alignment with institutional goals and provides strategic oversight for training, assessment, and advising technology initiatives and plays a key leadership role in driving student retention and graduation outcomes by guiding advising teams and initiatives toward measurable success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Onboard and supervise three advising teams and the MSU co-op advisor in Springfield, MO
  • Lead implementation of advising policies, assessment, and professional development
  • Coordinate team's advising schedules, caseload assignments, and team activities
  • Collaborate with academic departments and support offices across campus, including university event support planning and execution
  • Serve as a member of the advising leadership team, contributing to long-term planning and implementation
  • Advise assigned undergraduate students on academic planning, course registration, and university policies and procedures; advise and support undeclared students through major exploration
  • Assist Senior Director with university-wide faculty and staff training
  • Provide executive support and leadership in absence of the Senior Director
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $69,100 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
