This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that work time will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office. Santa Monica, Ca.

The AVP Relationship Manager in Healthcare Sponsor Finance is responsible for supporting the origination, underwriting, and portfolio management of cash-flow based senior secured loans to private equity-backed healthcare companies. This role focuses on healthcare cash-flow lending.

The AVP will work closely with senior team members (MDs, Directors) in credit analysis, deal execution, portfolio monitoring, and client relationship development with private equity sponsors active in the healthcare sector. This position also collaborates across the bank-including credit, capital markets, treasury, and risk-to help deliver full-relationship banking solutions to sponsor-backed clients.


Responsibilities

Deal Execution & Underwriting:

  • Lead underwriting workstreams for healthcare cash-flow loans, including building financial models, assessing leverage and coverage metrics, and evaluating sponsor equity structures.
  • Prepare draft credit memos and investment committee materials, offering clear, concise analyses of business models, market positioning, historical performance, and key risks/mitigants.
  • Coordinate due diligence processes, including quality of earnings reviews, industry studies, management meetings, and operational diligence.
  • Partner with internal underwriting and credit teams to drive deals from initial evaluation to closing.

Portfolio Management

  • Manage a portfolio of sponsor-backed healthcare borrowers; track financial performance, covenant compliance, and business model changes.
  • Identify early warning indicators and escalate potential credit issues to senior team members.
  • Prepare quarterly portfolio reviews, amendment analyses, and internal monitoring reports.
  • Sponsor & Market Engagement
  • Support senior bankers in developing and maintaining relationships with private equity firms focused on healthcare.
  • Participate in sponsor calls, conference attendance, and market mapping initiatives to deepen knowledge of the healthcare sponsor landscape.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities in treasury, hedging, capital markets, and other banking products.
  • Internal Coordination & Risk Management
  • Work with cross-functional partners (credit, legal, portfolio management, operations) to ensure seamless deal execution.
  • Adhere to all regulatory, operational, reputational, and credit risk policies.
  • Complete mandatory training requirements and maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Commercial Banking, Relationship Management, Sales OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Commercial Banking, Relationship Management, Sales

Preferred:

  • Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related fields
  • Experience in healthcare leveraged finance, sponsor finance or middle-market cash-flow lending
  • Strong modeling, underwriting, and credit memo writing experience

If hired in Los Angeles, California the base pay for this position is generally between $130,000.00 and $165,000.00. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
