Description

Location: Lansdale, PA 19446
Organization: COMHAR, Inc.
Reports To: Site Manager

Rate: $17.00/HR

COMHAR is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. The DSP provides direct services and residential support to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and/or behavioral health needs. This role plays a vital part in promoting each consumer's dignity, privacy, and independence while assisting with daily living activities, personal care, and community engagement.

Current Shifts

  • Saturday-Sunday 9:00AM-11:00PM
  • Saturday-Sunday 8:00AM-11:00PM
  • Saturday-Sunday 9:00AM-9:00PM
  • Thursday-Saturday 11:00PM-9:00AM
  • Monday-Friday 3:00PM-11:00PM
  • PRN Available
Key Responsibilities
  • Support consumers with daily personal hygiene, physical care, and life skills in a respectful and empowering manner.
  • Conduct and facilitate educational, social, and leisure activities that encourage participation and personal growth.
  • Promote wellness by encouraging healthy habits, including nutrition and daily living routines.
  • Assist with meal preparation, serving, and clean-up.
  • Accompany consumers to medical appointments and assist in obtaining medical care during emergencies.
  • Administer prescribed medications accurately and in accordance with agency policies.
  • Safely operate a COMHAR vehicle to transport consumers as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily progress notes and residential logs.
  • Report any incidents, crises, or unusual occurrences immediately to the Site Manager.
  • Participate actively in treatment team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and training sessions.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to all COMHAR policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive living environment for all residents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma (or GED)
  • Current PA Driver's License; satisfactory driving record; eligible to operate program vehicles.
  • Six months of related experience in an IDD Residential facility or related environment
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and privacy of all consumer records and information.
  • Able to acquire working knowledge of COMHAR policies and other applicable regulations
  • Attention to details to ensure safety for residents and for safely operating program vehicles
  • Able to work well with individuals with varying emotional and cognitive challenges .
  • Able to successfully manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Able to complete assignments in a timely manner while adhering to COMHAR procedures.
