POSITION SUMMARY:

The Speech-Language Pathologist conducts comprehensive assessments of in and outpatients with disorders of voice, swallowing and related disorders. The Speech-Language Pathologist participates patient education for various voice and swallowing disorders and for various treatments for these disorders. The Speech-Language Pathologist plans and implements individual/group speech-language pathology treatments. The Speech-Language Pathologist collaborates with other disciplines to arrange for appropriate follow-up care and facilitates a successful return to home and work environments. The Speech-Language Pathologist provides student training according to departmental guidelines and participates in continuous education. The Speech-Language Pathologist is encouraged to assist in interdisciplinary research.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Requires a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:


  • Requires a current license and certification as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and ASHA. ASHA membership required.

  • Work requires a current CPR certification.

  • Experienced therapists with FEES competency only.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Requires analytical abilities sufficient to evaluate patients' condition, capabilities and progress to develop appropriate treatment programs.

  • Effective interpersonal skills to be socially perceptive in accepting and relaying confidential information, communicating policies and procedures, and interacting with patients, families and various members of the health care team.

  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written). Bilingual or multi-lingual skills (beyond that of English) appropriate to the patient population served is a plus. * Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office.

  • Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.

  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of social, racial and ethnic populations.

  • Must be able to maintain strict protocols of all confidential or sensitive information.


Compensation Range:

$46.13- $56.23

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
