Reinsurance Actuarial Senior Analyst - Mortgage Analytics

What the day will look like

This role is for a hands-on individual with a strong analytics background, ideally in finance, insurance or consulting. The individual will work in Aon reinsurance's mortgage analytics team to deliver value added reinsurance solutions to our clients. Your work will support mortgage credit risk transfer (CRT) reinsurance deal placements and other client projects working closely with other Aon colleagues. You will also perform market research and industry studies.

As a Senior Actuarial Analyst, your primary role is to support clients as requested by supervisors or brokers, across virtually any client project or internal research assignment. Senior Analysts are expected to develop proficiencies in completing standard analyses, while also taking part in more advanced analyses as needed. You will become familiar with Aon's tools and approach, contribute to our client's development and present Aon's solutions and services to our clients. You will also assist in various research and development efforts and industry trend studies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand reinsurance contracts and products (terminology, terms and conditions)
  • Inventory and manage client as well as industry data. Analyze, edit and model complex data and make appropriate decisions regarding analyses
  • Analyze the costs and benefits of risk transferred under reinsurance agreements. Develop bespoke analyses, visualizations and dashboards to explain analytics to brokers and clients
  • Prepare client-ready presentations to communicate analysis results to brokers and clients. Present results of analyses to brokers, clients and subscribers.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for quality, accuracy and timely completion of analysis. Consistently produce high quality analyses in timeframes agreed to or provided. Manage analyses and projects for team with client from start to finish with limited guidance.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 3+ years of experience in an Actuarial role, preferrably in mortgage credit analytics or other financial service consulting experience.
  • Progress towards passing Actuarial Exams (3+), or an advanced degree in a related field, or 3+ years of related working experience.
  • Strong proficiency and prior experience in data analytics languages such as R, Python, SQL, or similar programming languages.
  • Familiarity with MS Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong analytics background from mortgage analytics, other financial fields, or consulting experience.
  • Strong ability to understand and perform mathematical and statistical calculations.
  • Desire to build a career in reinsurance, consulting, financial modeling, or credit default analytics is preferred.
  • Model building, Economic Capital modeling, return attribution, reinsurance valuation, or mortgage analytics experience are a plus.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Math, Computer Science, Actuarial Science or other similarly quantitative or analytically oriented major or equivalent years of industry experience.

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $85,000 to $140,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
