The Amplify Chemist will act as an internal expert to aid in the evaluation of technologies as well as the operation of funded medicinal chemistry projects within the Amplify portfolio. The Amplify Chemist will provide technical expertise in evaluating molecules for candidate projects as part of the investment triage and diligence process culminating in plan development and approval.
This role will report to the Chemistry Project Lead and work closely with other Leads, Operating Partners, and Amplify Leadership on multiple programs. The Amplify Chemist may also participate in commercialization activities including pitching to external investors and partners.
Operationally, the Amplify Chemist will leverage their expertise in medicinal chemistry from early drug discovery through to clinical-scale synthesis for funded programs, and engage with academic investigators and vendors to generate and analyze new molecules.
The ideal candidate will have participated in fundraising and early stage company science and drug discovery operations.
The Amplify Chemist will be a vital contributor to the success of Amplify in translating promising new idea to reality, and creating value with these new technologies.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Chemistry required or Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required and Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Experience

  • Medicinal Chemistry in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry setting 8-10+ years required and Experience in participation in early stage company science and drug discovery operations 5-7 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive working knowledge of modern medicinal chemistry design and drug discovery techniques (FBDD, SBDD, multi-attribute analysis, flexible resourcing models, alternative delivery systems, etc.).
  • Solid knowledge of partner disciplines related to drug discovery (e.g., pharmacology, ADMET-DMPK, toxicology, etc.).
  • Proven ability to effectively manage CRO-based drug development and medicinal chemistry activities in library/screening as well as molecule design frameworks.
  • Has a track record of delivering multiple drugs from hit to IND.
  • Experience across a range of indications (e.g., cardiovascular, immunology, neuroscience, oncology), target classes, and chemistries is essential.
  • Independently develops and delivers required draft documents such as scope, proposals, timeline, critical path, and budget options for stakeholder review and team-level execution.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
