The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Responsibilities





    • Under the supervision of the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center Co-Director, the Adult Diabetes Educator will be responsible for providing comprehensive diabetes education to patients with diabetes and their families and for working cooperatively in all areas of the ADA-recognized Berrie Center diabetes program.
    • The diabetes educator will be involved in the Berrie Center diabetes clinical trials program including facilitating insulin pump training, glucose sensor training, review of glucose and insulin dosing, study medication administration, and review of prevention and recognition and treatment of low blood sugars.
    • Maintain up-to-date patient-facing educational materials for use by all Berrie Center clinicians.
    • Lead support groups for special populations of patients with diabetes.
    • Provide lectures and workshops for pediatric and adult endocrinology fellows and other learners related to practical aspects of diabetes management.
    • Performs other related duties as required.




Minimum Qualifications




  • Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus 3 years of related experience.




Preferred Qualifications





    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or RD or PA and type 1 diabetes experience
    • Experience with insulin pumps and glucose sensors
    • Licensed and currently registered as an RN or RD or PA in NY State
    • Ability to work collaboratively on a patient care team required
    • Certified Diabetes Educator certification preferred
    • Master's degree preferred
