Summary of Role:

As part of our expanding Solutions Architecture team, the Technical Architect serves as a senior design authority responsible for defining, governing, and validating solution architectures across cloud and onpremises environments. This role focuses on architecture strategy, design patterns, and technical decisionmaking, partnering closely with engineering and delivery teams who implement and operate the solutions.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

Technical Architect

  • Design and document architectural, data, and technical diagrams and specifications for both cloud-based and on-premises credit union solutions.
  • Partner with engineering and development teams to define and validate architectural designs for system integrations, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and target-state architecture.
  • Analyze and translate complex business and technical requirements into actionable architecture blueprints supporting operational efficiency and enhanced member engagement.
  • Identify and document architectural dependencies, risks, and constraints across initiatives, providing guidance to project and engineering teams to minimize integration risk and business impact.
  • Define and maintain reference architectures, patterns, and standards for cloud, hybrid, and onpremises platforms
  • Ensure all technical designs adhere to Architecture Principles and established industry best practices.
  • Produce architecture decision records (ADRs) and technical design artifacts to support governance and auditability in a regulated environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Key Technical Skills

  • Cloud Platforms: Architecture-level experience with AWS (EKS/ECS, EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Lambda, CloudFront, RDS, ), Azure, or GCP, including hybrid and multi-cloud architectures.
  • Virtualization & Containerization: Proficient with VMware, Hyper-V, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS/ECS), and container orchestration architectures.
  • Networking: Strong knowledge of network architecture, including firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, SD-WAN, DNS, routing, and switching.
  • Storage & Data Management: Experience with SAN, NAS, object storage (e.g., S3), backup and disaster recovery solution architectures, including data migration strategies.
  • Security: 2 or more years' experience in identity and access management (IAM) architecture, encryption, security groups , and secure infrastructure design. Compliance frameworks (CIS, NIST, PCI, etc.) a plus.
  • Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Experience designing and reviewing infrastructureascode patterns (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK) and automation approaches, with implementation executed by delivery teams.
  • Monitoring & Performance: Experience with infrastructure and application monitoring architectures, logging, alerting, capacity planning, and performance tuning tools.
  • Business Continuity: Designing and implementing high availability, disaster recovery, and backup solutions to ensure business continuity.
  • Database Technologies: Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases such as SQL, MySQL, RDS.
  • Development & CI/CD: Knowledge in backend development languages (Java, C#, PowerShell, Python) and CI/CD pipeline deployments (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub).
  • Collaboration & Communication: Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience in the field of Infrastructure, Cloud Architecture, Solution Design, Software Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technology Skills - Minimum of 5 years of experience with various technologies such as integration best practices and cloud implementations.
  • Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and integration best practices.
  • Prior experience in regulated sectors, including Financial Services or Healthcare, is preferred.
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities for evaluating complex systems and formulating innovative solutions.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with expertise in conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders and presenting effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making and workflow optimization.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Works well with diverse groups of people; always treats others with respect and dignity; focuses on solving conflict without hostility; works towards achievement of mutual goals.
  • Adaptability to changing technologies, business needs, and regulatory landscapes.

Compensation:$115,751- $150,477, plus a competitive benefits package
