Under general direction of the Maintenance Manager, position is primarily responsible for the inspection, maintenance and repair of all campus assets, including but not limited to: automotive, pickups (light-heavy), EV, carts, trailers and may assist with heavy duty equipment.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
- No minimum Education required.
- Experience working in an automotive facility, repairing vehicle system components while identifying defects and safety hazards.
- Experience operating and maintaining tools of the trade safely while following best practices.
- Knowledge of internal combustion engines, alternative fuels, hybrids, electric and advance technology vehicles.
- Ability to follow and understand repair manuals, diagnostic tree, wiring schematic and flow charts to identify failure and provide resolution.
- Ability to correctly cleanup spills, handle and store fluids, dispose of hazardous material.
- Ability to communicate and document accurately indirect/ direct time, parts and material used for each repair or diagnose while providing clear notes on the repair order.
- Customer service and communication skills to provide courteous service either in person, email or by phone.
Preferred Qualifications
- National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications.
- Class A or B California Driver's License with endorsements.
- Completion of a formal 4-year Heavy Equipment/Automotive apprenticeship or 2 year Heavy Equipment/Automotive training program with 2 years of work experience.

Department Overview
UC Davis Fleet Services manages a fleet of vehicles for the UC Davis Campus in Northern California that are assigned and travel throughout the nation. There are approximately 870 fleet-owned vehicles with an acquisition value of over $20 million and another 600 department-owned vehicles, carts, and trailers maintained by Fleet Services. These vehicles are available to support teaching, research, administrative programs and all campus support programs.

Work Environment
