Data Center Technician Role Overview Responsible for preparing, staging, and performing hardware installations, startups, and shutdowns in a data center environment. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established protocols to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Key Responsibilities * Prepare, stage, and execute hardware installations and removals (including racks, hard drives, and switches) following detailed checklists and standard operating procedures. * Perform post-installation quality checks, verifying grounding, labeling, and cabling compliance with safety protocols and network design standards. * Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting, quickly identifying root causes and replacing faulty components to minimize downtime. * Decommission hardware and perform refresh tasks such as memory upgrades and OS rebuilds with minimal supervision. * Communicate and escalate incidents promptly to Data Center Technician Leads in accordance with established procedures. * Participate in safety briefings, complete required training, and adhere to all safety guidelines for equipment handling and hazard prevention. Requirements * High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. * Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components. * Minimum 1 year of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology. * Familiarity with productivity tools for documentation and communication. * Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays. * Previous data center experience is a plus. Experience Level: Intermediate Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
