PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hires, trains, orients, counsels, evaluates, and administers disciplinary action up to and including termination.
- Responsible for all construction activities across the system.
- Assists Director in determining budget, operational and capital expenses involving construction projects.
- Develops strategies, maintains documentation, and conducts training for construction processes, capital budget process and infection control processes.
- Develops plans for construction projects with architects, engineers, 3rd party consultants and hospital departments.
- Develops JCAHO/OSHA compliance strategies.
- Performs system wide inspections to determine status of building, equipment, and construction projects are in compliance with Northside policies and state and local codes.
- Responsible for monitoring project manager's budget and cost management practices to aid in controlling job costs for budgetary purposes, and maintains pertinent records.
- Responsible for ensuring construction schedules are being achieved across the system to meet the needs of the organization.
- Responsible for managing the construction closeout process and enforcing a timely "Tenant Improvement" reimbursement from property owners.
- Assigns Sr. Project Coordinators and Sr. Project Manager to specific projects, and spot checks work to ensure that construction processes meets safety standards and regulations.
- Ensures that construction projects are completed per code and that all certifications are obtained during the closeout process.
- Acts as the hospital's safety representative for Construction.
- Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any construction related incidents, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injuryaccident to Director.
- Responsible for submitting project budgets and scopes of work to the state for approval
- Responsible for reviewing and approving project contracts with architects, engineers, general contractors, etc. prior to submission to the director.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating the construction department processes to prepare, and assist in hosting, our annual contractor orientations.
- Maintains, and updates, the overall project tracking log for the system.
- Responds immediately to issues and emergencies that involve construction projects and/or disasters.
- Provides assistance with outpatient lease renewals and negotiations between landlords and real estate.
- Develops and maintains relationships with local and state authorities have jurisdiction.
- Provide project updates to leadership teams
- Responsible for reviewing and approving invoices and pay applications through NSH billing software
- Responsible for reviewing and approving project change orders for proper documentation.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Other duties as assigned by supervision.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
- Bachelor Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, a related field and/or a Master's in Business Administration
- Seven (7) years' experience in Healthcare Construction, of which four (4) years must be in a supervisory capacity.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED
- Computer experience to include some experience with CAD, Bluebeam, scheduling software
- CHFM preferred
- Solid grasp on understanding operational functions of a hospital
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and understand construction estimating, scheduling, permitting, and closeout procedures.
- Knowledge of NFPA 101 Life Safety Code and NFPA 99 Healthcare Code.
- Familiar with JCAHO Statement of Conditions and Environment of Care Standards
- Knowledge of Infection Control processes and how to implement
