Description

The VP, Residential Lending & Secondary Market Sales is responsible for the management, and oversight of the Residential Mortgage Department, which includes residential mortgage and consumer loan compliance, processing, underwriting, and closing.

In this strategic leadership role, this position will guide the full mortgage lifecycle, ensure operational excellence and maintain the Bank's strong regulatory and investor relationships. This position will be a key contributor to quality assurance and continuous improvement across the department. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage all Residential Mortgage functions including consumer loan compliance, processing, underwriting and closing.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and workflows to ensure efficient load orginations and compliance with investor quality assurance programs.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate sales of loans to Investors.
  • Review HMDA information to ensure accurate annual HMDA reporting.
  • Implement new residential and consumer products or enhancements.
  • Process loan approvals in Encompass.
  • Collaborate with processors and underwriters to meet ECOA dates and move loans through the pipeline.
  • Participate in weekly pipeline meetings with processors and underwriters.
  • Serve as first line of support and back-up for processing, underwriting, and closing activities including preparing closing disclosures and setting up loan file, as needed.
  • Review and approve residential construction loan advances.
  • Review and reconcile board reports for monthly board meetings.
  • Respond to the residential lending audit requests (TENA, FDIC, NYSDFS, etc.).
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements while maintaining the highest degree of regulatory compliance.
  • Special projects as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 7 years of experience in residential & consumer lending, origination, operations, servicing, and portfolio management in a banking environment.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Excellent verbal and written communications skills, along with analytical and organizational skills, customer service experience, ability to work independently and as a team. Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience using Encompass LOS, LaserPro, and CSI/NuPoint preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10-20 pounds at times.
  • Must be willing to attend events outside of the office.
