The HVAC O&M BMS Engineer is part of our Building Technologies & Solutions business at Johnson Controls. This person will be located at the University of North Dakota campus. Will be responsible for preventive maintenance as it is related to mechanical, electrical and low voltage controls components.The ideal candidate will have strong HVAC Control systems programming, troubleshooting, installation, commissioning and preventive maintenance/hands on technical experience and a leadership background. Responsibility Level:

  • As an HVAC O&M BMS Engineer, you will perform HVAC control systems programming, troubleshooting, installation, commissioning, and preventative maintenance as it is related to mechanical, electrical, and low voltage controls components.
  • Troubleshoot existing HVAC control systems using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools as well as a variety of hand tools including electrical testing meters and other electronic testing equipment.
  • Provide front-line technical and repair support through effective communication with Johnson Controls customers.
  • Provide system repair and update recommendations and assist in proposing recommendations to Johnson Controls' customers.

Principle Duties:

  • Implement new programming developed for field level controllers
  • Upgrade firmware, troubleshoot and replace Network Automation Engines
  • Loading Johnson Controls field and network-level controller software.
  • Performing commissioning and system diagnostics for all levels of system controllers as well as end devices (i.e., Sensors, actuators, et c.) and completing all required commissioning documentation.
  • Updates MUI graphical interfaces as system changes are implemented in the field
  • Assist customer with ongoing ATO for Metasys and EMCS
  • Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
  • Calibrate systems require basic electronic test equipment.
  • Completes administrative tasks including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.
  • Manage Metasys ADX alarms, coordinate with customers for items needing attention
  • Execute company sponsored as well as personally initiated training to ensure the highest level of knowledge and capability is maintained.
  • Engaging with customers to fully understand their systems and needs.
  • Communicates with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
  • Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training.
  • A high degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.

Requirements:

  • +10 experience in a technical field, including a minimum of three years specializing in Building Automation Systems (BAS) or a combination of Vocational School four-year program graduate and hands-on experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to install and/or service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment.
  • Effective communication skills to represent Johnson Controls on customer sites.
  • Capable of comprehending and proficient in working with electrical schematics and single-line diagrams.
  • Ability to produce quotations following successful troubleshooting, coupled with the skill to generate revenue for the branch through labor and materials contributions.
  • Possesses the ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
  • Demonstrate effective writing skills as well as understanding of programs and software applications.
  • Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $32.69 - 40.87 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, andabilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
