We're seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Wealth Service Platform Engineering, to join our Wealth Services Platform team. This role is in New York City. Role Overview The Director, Wealth Service Platform Engineering, is a senior managerial position responsible for architecting, developing, and delivering core functionalities for a next-generation Wealth Service platform. This role combines strategic technical leadership with hands-on engineering expertise, driving the transformation and modernization of services central to Wealth Management, particularly Investments and Trading. The Director will champion the integration of AI technologies to elevate code development, testing, and documentation processes, ensuring the platform's robustness, scalability, and client-centric outcomes. By leading high-performing engineering teams, the Director will directly influence the platform's resiliency, security, and innovation-serving as a catalyst for operational excellence and technological advancement. In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
- Architectural Leadership: Define and evolve platform architecture, ensuring modularity, scalability, and alignment with enterprise standards and Wealth Management business goals.
- Hands-On Engineering: Oversee and participate in the design, development, and implementation of backend services, with end-to-end ownership from prototyping to production deployment.
- AI-Driven Engineering: Leverage AI technologies to accelerate code development, automate testing, and streamline documentation, advancing efficiency and quality across the engineering lifecycle.
- Platform Resiliency: Champion secure-by-default practices, drive vulnerability remediation, and uphold compliance, embedding security into all delivery processes.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Manage and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Automation and CI/CD: Implement and optimize automation testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring rapid, reliable, and repeatable software delivery.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally with data engineers, business users, and project managers to deliver elegant, client-focused solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive platform modernization initiatives, advocate for adoption of emerging technologies, and promote best practices across the organization.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 12 + years of hands-on experience architecting and implementing Wealth Management platforms, with deep domain expertise in Investments and Trading.
- Demonstrated proficiency in modern technology stacks, including Java, Spring, Kafka, Hazelcast, Mongo DB, Python, SQL, NodeJS, Angular, JavaScript, and containerization frameworks.
- Extensive experience in microservices architecture, event-driven messaging (Kafka or similar), and high-throughput backend service development.
- Proven track record in leveraging AI for software engineering tasks, including code generation, automated testing, and documentation.
- Strong background in automation testing methodologies and hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline implementation and optimization.
- History of leading, mentoring, and scaling high-performing engineering teams both onshore and offshore, with a focus on delivery excellence.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to unify teams and influence enterprise-wide initiatives.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $142,000 and $230,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
