Job Overview
Responsible for providing academic and/or career technical training (CTT) instruction to students in accordance with approved curricula in the absence of the regular instructor. Work as part of the training team and assist in coordinating CTT instruction, academic instruction, and social development in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives. Work Model: Onsite
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
GED/HSE Duties:
- Provide students with academic or CTT instruction in any of the following areas of instruction:
- Academic classrooms
- GED/HSD classrooms
- Driver's Education
- CTT classrooms/shops
- Motivate and counsel students in the areas of behavior, training, and /or study habits.
- Coordinate with other team members to resolve issues affecting student training.
- Follow lesson plans from instructors. Develop and prepare lessons as needed.
- Prepare required documentation and evaluations.
- Administer and correct tests and assignments. Maintain progress and attendance reports.
- Control use of supplies, materials, and equipment. Recommend purchases as needed.
- Assist in developing community linkages and partnerships.
- Access and use computers and applicable software.
- Teach, model, and evaluate employability skills.
- Develop and coordinate enrichment programs as assigned.
- Maintain accountability of students and property. Adhere to safety practices.
- Cultivate and maintain a climate on Center which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
- Monitor student progress in the program by ensuring compliance with established corporate and DOL data integrity guidelines.
- Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition, and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
- Perform all other duties as requested.
Accountable For:
- Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Having the ability to work under pressure as well as ensuring timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
- The proper use of tools and/or equipment commonly used in an office/clerical environment.
- Completing all mandated training requirements per government and company directives.
- Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.
- Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Successfully pass background check and drug test.
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Alaska Teaching Certificate
- Previous substitute teaching experience.
- Two (2) years' experience in the career technical training field.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed primarily in an office setting.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
- Have a high level of social contact.
- They work closely with students and other office staff.
- Communicate with people daily by telephone, e-mail, and in person.
- Are occasionally placed in conflict situations in which others may become rude or unpleasant.
- Work as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires the employee to be able to frequently required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Work somewhat close to other people, such as when sharing office space.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
