Primary Job Function

The Planner is responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy of job travelers, routings, and production orders before they hit the floor, coordinating with various departments to resolve potential issues, and managing the Manufacturing Change Requests (MCR). The Planner will be a key driver of process improvements, safety initiatives, and company culture, serving as a leader in fostering a positive, efficient, and safe work environment. Additionally, this role involves identifying improvement opportunities, assisting in ISO compliance, supporting lean initiatives, and working closely with the Quality Team and shop floor personnel.

Note: This position operates on Day Shift (6:00am-2:45pm)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Pre-Production Planning & Process Management:

    • Review and verify accuracy of job travelers, routings, prints, and BOMs before release to production.
    • Collaborate with sales, engineering, purchasing, and production teams to ensure all required materials, tools, and resources are available before a job starts.
    • Identify and resolve potential production bottlenecks and scheduling conflicts.
    • Review and implement Manufacturing Change Requests (MCR) as needed.
    • Continuously evaluate and refine planning processes to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
    • Review costing on new jobs after the first run and adjust processes as needed.
    • Assist in sourcing tooling and specialty hardware as required.
    • Be actively involved in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.


  • Leadership & Continuous Improvement:

    • Act as a leader in promoting safety, efficiency, and a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Work closely with production supervisors and operators to drive operational enhancements and lean projects.
    • Assist in identifying, implementing, and supporting cost reduction strategies.
    • Collaborate with the Quality Team to ensure ISO compliance by modifying programs, processes, and documentation as necessary.
    • Foster teamwork and collaboration across departments to improve company-wide communication and effectiveness.
    • Serve as a key influencer in shaping company culture, advocating for employee engagement and a positive work environment.
    • Perform duties in a self-motivated and proactive manner while demonstrating flexibility and neutrality.
    • Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address challenges.
    • Possess the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.


  • Additional Responsibilities:

    • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
    • Keep work areas clean and organized to maintain a safe and efficient workspace.
    • Assist in interpreting customer drawings, specifications, and requirements to IMC standards.
    • Review drawings to make sure all the information to build the part is on the print and accurate.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Minimum skills, knowledge, education, certifications and related job experience that employee typically must have to perform essential functions of the job acceptably.



  • Proven experience as a Production Planner or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of production planning principles, MRP systems, and scheduling software.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead process improvement initiatives and drive positive change within the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong math and measurement skills.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and dependable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
