POSITION SUMMARY:

The Community Affairs Lead (Purpose Campaigns) will be responsible for balancing strategic and tactical work to devise and execute omnichannel campaigns that inspire employees to contribute personal expertise and influence brand and other business priorities to create shared value that helps the organization do well by doing good.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop methods for packaging hundreds of employee-driven impact projects into a continuous narrative that compels employees to join or create impact initiatives and builds a purpose-driven work culture.
  • Design buzzworthy activations, content creation, and persuasive storytelling that compels internal and external stakeholders to help us strengthen food access and food systems.
  • Collaborate with Communications teams and other internal stakeholders early in the planning process to align and integrate with other business priorities.
  • Regularly initiate partnerships with cross-functional teams and promote opportunities to create shared value with external partners through community projects, cause-related marketing campaigns, food waste reduction initiatives, sustainable sourcing, and other cross-industry collaborations.
  • Formalize and manage a mentorship initiative that inspires and mobilizes employees to advise, coach, and otherwise support student interest in food-related careers.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Communications, Social Impact, or related area
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, passion for innovation, and a commitment to driving positive social change
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in cause-related marketing or sales promotions, ideally in an agency setting; asset-based community development, placemaking, experience marketing, or other cause/brand alignment
  • Proven ability to mobilize people to join social or environmental impact initiatives
  • Consultative approach to help stakeholders create new connections with causes and community organizations that align with personal and professional interests
  • Experience articulating social impact goals in the context of Triple Bottom Line or Shared Value frameworks in a manner that influences, educates, and enhances buy-in from multiple stakeholders
  • Knowledge of best practices and trends in leveraging purpose programs and campaigns to attract and engage talent; generate consumer demand; or solve operational challenges
  • Strong desire to collaborate across teams in a matrix organizational structure, dive in where needed, and offer excellent service to internal and external stakeholders

SKILLS:

  • Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams and or agency partners utilizing strong negotiation and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with the ability to develop creative/non-traditional solutions for challenging, undefined problems
  • Experience leading marketing communication projects, crowdsourcing campaigns, or digital engagement strategies
  • Ability to learn quickly, manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of cultural and linguistic sensitivities
  • Multilingual abilities a plus
