Overview:

This is a fast-paced role ideal for a self-motivated individual who wants to work hands-on with the latest in Semiconductor equipment technology. The ideal candidate will have experience or knowledge of Semiconductor, Thin Film, Micro-electromechanical Systems (MEMS), or similar manufacturing process steps. You will utilize your excellent communications skills by working closely with internal and external customers. Your willingness to be challenged will help you learn the entire process of single-wafer wet process semiconductor equipment.

Responsibilities:



  • Tool set up and clean up before and after customer process demonstrations, including loading and disposal of chemistry, developing DOE, performing experiments, and summarizing results into a customer-facing report
  • Ability to be given a project, develop requirements for success, and perform experiments to gather data in support of the project
  • Operate state of the art process equipment to promote completion of process demonstrations or experiments
  • Learn and be competent with the PSP software programs to execute process testing and runs


  • Work closely with Engineering team of many disciplines. (e.g. ChE, Chemistry, ME, EE, and Comp Sci.).


  • Improve PSP's understanding of mechanical components of the tool by writing tests plans, performing the experiments, and then presenting the data
  • Use semiconductor experience to further improve current toolset and provide guidance to younger process engineers
  • Perform improvements on equipment sets and operation of metrology equipment in the process lab (SEM/EDX, profilometer, SP2, etc.) to gather data in support of your experiments


  • Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of process tools in operation or preparation for shipment.


  • Perform preventative maintenance of all types on the process equipment
  • Follow all safety protocols for tool operation and maintenance and repairs
  • Use mechanical, electrical, or plumbing skills to independently diagnose and fix electro/mechanical issues
  • Work with semiconductor production equipment, including chemical/mechanical/electrical upgrades or modifications to accommodate customer applications.
  • Help engineering department understand the key requirements for wet process equipment being designed. Deploy BKM in maintenance and operation of the tools to assist with this activity
  • Adhere to safety protocols in a clean room environment.



Preferred qualifications:

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, OR 3 years and a Master's degree, OR a PhD without experience OR Equivalent work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Semiconductor equipment of process experience is highly preferred.


  • Experience and knowledge of complex mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience working in semiconductor or similar clean room fabs is highly preferred.


  • Ability to perform data analysis (python, JMP, or MatLab or preferred environment).
  • Programming experience in languages such as Python or R, and familiarity with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras is nice to have.


  • Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing skills and the ability to diagnose and fix electro/mechanical issues without assistance is required
  • Knowledge of and experience with Metrology Equipment such as optical microscope, SEM, AFM, ellipsometer, surface particle measurement, profilometer, and four-point probe is ideal. A willingness to learn these techniques is required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS OFFICE (Word and Excel) and ability to learn other software packages for equipment operation and data collection
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must have ability to work independently to achieve goals and occasionally the flexibility to work various shifts
  • Willingness and ability to follow procedures and adhere to safety protocols
  • Ability to work in clean-room attire and wear appropriate safety gear(PPE) as required
  • Ability to routinely lift, pull or push objects of up to 50 pounds (mainly specialty chemicals and tool boxes)
  • Willingness to travel to customer site (domestic and international) if necessary (up to 25% of the time)


Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $86,625 - $109,725, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
