Job Description:

Microchip's FPGA BU is looking for a talented, passionate and creative individual to join our new product development team. The candidate will support the Characterization group through the phases of releasing new products to the market. This position offers technical insight into the vast knowledge of developing and testing semiconductor IC's and will provide opportunities to work closely with silicon design engineers, software engineers and technology development engineers. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop a diverse set of skills while working on multiple projects that support key functions within our organization. You will gain hands-on experience in designing experiments, analyzing results, and presenting..

Responsibilities:

  • Characterize and validate both digital and analog circuits such as SRAMs, PLLs, Serdes, IOs, FPGAs, Voltage detectors, and oscillators
  • Develop scripts, RTL designs and embedded firmware to characterize FPGA and SOC components.
  • Setup boards, equipment, and instrumentation tools to characterize electrical characteristics over Process, Voltage and temperature
  • Validate FPGA timing and power models and correlating pre-silicon results with silicon measurements.
  • Debug silicon issues by designing experiments to identify root cause
  • Analyze characterization results and create characterization reports

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or master's degree in electrical engineering or computer science
  • 0-3 years of experience in electrical engineering or computer science.
  • Knowledge of solid-state physics and microelectronics. In-depth understanding of semiconductor fundamentals
  • Skilled with scripting languages like TCL/PERL/Python, C and C++ , and visual basic programming.
  • Knowledge of RTL (Verilog or VDHL).
  • Strong team player with a collaborative mindset, able to work effectively within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • Results-oriented and proactive, with a strong focus on achieving project objectives and meeting deadlines.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and analysis, with keen attention to detail and the ability to identify root causes and drive resolution collaboratively.
  • Methodical and well-organized, with a proven track record of clearly and accurately documenting test procedures, results, and progress.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internship, project, or coursework experience in RTL design, chip validation, characterization, or related areas
  • Hands-on experience with basic lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generator, logic analyzer, network analyzer, etc.
  • Board bring-up, hardware design and PDN noise analysis experience is a plus.

Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in California, is $68,640 - $128,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
