Northwestern University is seeking a temporary Administrative Assistant - Insurance.

Temporary Job Description:

This position provides administrative support to the Student Insurance Health Office, serving as a key member of the team during a high-volume period. On-site attendance is essential, given the volume of walk-in and phone inquiries. The administrative assistant will work collaboratively with colleagues to coordinate a broad variety of support to a student-centric environment.

  • Responds promptly and accurately to a high volume of emails and support tickets using pre-typed, approved templates.
  • Handles walk-in inquiries and incoming phone calls, providing information or directing individuals appropriately.
  • Accurately log and track inquiries and responses in the department's system.
  • Support document preparation, filing, and basic data entry tasks.
  • Escalate complex or non-standard inquiries to a supervisor.
  • Follow established workflows and adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.

Qualifications Required:

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and general office technology.
  • Strong written communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to follow structured processes and use standardized responses.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
  • Punctuality and reliability in maintaining regular on-site attendance.

Preferences:

  • Experience working in a higher education, healthcare, or insurance-related setting.
  • Training on internal systems, policies, and template responses will be provided.
