Communications Consultant - Account Manager

This is a 2.5-year, full-time (40 hours/week), hybrid, W2contract role located in Charlotte or Raleigh, NC (in-office 3 days per week after onboarding).


Summary

The Communications Consultant - Account Manager oversees the development and execution of marketing and communications initiatives to ensure brand alignment and message consistency across multiple channels. This role supports corporate strategies by managing creative campaigns, advising internal partners, and collaborating with creative teams to deliver impactful, on-brand communications.


Our Ideal Candidate


  • 8+ years of experience in account management, communications, or creative project management



  • Passion for brand storytelling, marketing communications, and client relationship management



  • Strong foundation in strategic planning, campaign execution, and project management



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint) and familiar with work management systems (e.g., Workamajig)



  • Comfortable working in highly matrixed environments and partnering across diverse teams



  • Experienced in delivering integrated campaigns across print, video, digital, social, and radio channels



  • Skilled in collaborating with creative, digital, and marketing teams to ensure consistent execution



  • Able to work independently, manage multiple projects, and build strong client partnerships



  • Adaptable and dependable under shifting priorities or during crisis communications periods



  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and quality



Job Description

In this role, you will serve as the account manager and communications strategist for marketing, brand, and creative projects.

You'll partner with internal stakeholders to develop, implement, and evaluate communications plans that support business goals. This includes managing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, as well as ensuring high-quality creative execution across all channels.

You will also collaborate closely with creative teams on marketing materials, coordinate with digital communications for online campaigns, and maintain strong client relationships through consistent, proactive communication. Additionally, you may serve in a secondary crisis communications support role during specific periods throughout the year.


Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, or a related field



  • Background in advertising, branding, marketing communications, and client management



  • Experience in strategic communications planning tied to measurable business results



  • Previous agency or in-house agency-style experience preferred



  • Familiarity with Kanban principles or similar project methodologies is a plus



  • Experience in the energy or utilities sector is helpful but not required



The pay for this W-2 position ranges from $45.63 - $47.20per hour. This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
