The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: Grade: Professional 304 Pay Range: $49,800.00 - $74,600.00Job Description Job Description Summary The Knowledge Specialist will manage tools, processes, and content for multiple knowledge base platforms. Responsibilities will include curating and tailoring content for various audiences, including students, individual departments, and all WGU staff; distilling complex information into clear, concise articles; creating visual media including videos to demonstrate key concepts; regularly working with subject matter experts to review new and existing content for accuracy and relevancy; editing others' materials to establish a clear and consistent voice; and use metrics to proactively identify and correct deficiencies in knowledge resources. The Knowledge Specialist must possess excellent writing and grammar skills and be able to work independently, delivering accurate documentation under deadline pressure. The person in this position will be required to know a variety of software programs in order to write text and create graphic and video content. Additionally, the Knowledge Specialist will be required to edit and proofread documents produced by others. The Knowledge Specialist must also be able to build and maintain good working relationships with subject matter experts, use reporting tools to identify opportunities to improve knowledge offerings, and manage their time and priorities effectively. To be considered, individuals should have two or more years of relevant job experience and the ability to handle many projects at one time. The Knowledge Specialist will be asked to interpret problems and provide technical knowledge to end users (internal and external). The Knowledge Specialist will constantly interact with customers and fellow employees to answer questions and give advice. Job Details: Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 1. Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology 2. Manage publication of material to internal and external audiences 3. Proactively identify immediate and future opportunities for enhancement of knowledge offerings by using reporting and analytics tools 4. Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel 5. Maintain records and files of work and revisions 6. Confer with end users and subject matter experts to establish technical specifications and determine subject material to be developed for publication 7. Coordinate ongoing maintenance of articles with subject matter experts on a regular basis 8. Regularly review published materials across multiple platforms for relevancy, currency, and accuracy. 9. Create and select graphic and video content to illustrate material 10. Interview faculty & staff and read journals and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods 11. Be able to focus on details and work in a fast-paced, growth environment, while meeting daily challenges with multiple competing priorities and pressures 12.
