Description

Nexus Family Healing is looking to hire a Youth and Family Skills Coach to join our newest youth crisis and stabilization center set to open in fall 2025 in Hennepin County!

This new youth crisis and stabilization center is a 13-bed, short-term residential service is for Hennepin County youth with complex mental and behavioral health issues looking for appropriate care. The service will help to reduce the number of youth who are stuck in inappropriate care settings such as emergency rooms, police stations, juvenile detention or unstable home situations and provide treatment and therapeutic supports while triage, assessment, and transition planning take place with families.

  • Full-time onsite opportunity
  • Location: 1800 Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis
  • Pay Range: $21-23 an hour

Primary responsibilities:

Client Life Skills Support and Coaching

  • Assists clients in using age-appropriate self-management skills, including communication, self-regulation, self-help skills, play, social, and relationship skills
  • Provides de-escalation and therapeutic supports as needed with clients
  • Notifies and collaborates with Clinical Supervisor in case of crises and emergencies
  • Completes clinical documentation in compliance with program expectations; demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills to generate and support program documentation expectations and standards

Program Facilitation & Consultation

  • Attends and participates in clinical supervision and team case consultation meetings in accordance with program expectations
  • Completes education and training experiences in accordance with program expectations
  • Ensures minimum hours of direct services as assigned
  • Maintains compliance with all agency, state, and regulatory standards and remain compliant with all HIPAA regulations
  • Assists in implementing responses to youth behavior and other skills deficits according to the developed treatment plan
Requirements

Required Education and Licensure:

  • Bachelors degree or above in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university
  • Must have completed 2,000 hours of supervised clinical experience delivering clinical services to treat mental health and emotional disturbances with a trauma focus
  • OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree and 2,000 hours of supervised clinical experience, would consider minimum completion of 4000 supervision hours of supervised clinical experience delivering clinical services to treat mental health and emotion disturbances with a trauma focus
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and families
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry skills required
  • Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges
  • Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Knowledge of family-based philosophy and practice
  • Experience in related community-based work, working with families, youth, and trauma exposed children and adolescents
