LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN'S SERVICES, CHILD ABUSE HOTLINE DIVISION, PUTNAM COUNTY
This is a DCS Intake Analyst position with the Child Abuse Hotline in the Statewide Child Investigative & Referral Unit. This position can potentially sit in any county across the state.
This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position. Qualifications Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree. Experience equivalent to two years of full-time professional work providing child welfare services including, but not limited to, one or a combination of the following: social, psychological, or correctional counseling or case management; volunteer services coordination for a children's service program; and/or juvenile classification coordination. Prior additional experience in child protective services is preferred. OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in social work or a related behavioral science field with a child or family focus and experience equivalent to one year of full-time professional child welfare case work including, but not limited to, one or a combination of the following: social, psychological, or correctional counseling or case management; volunteer services coordination for a children's service program; and/or juvenile classification coordination. Necessary Special Qualifications: Applicants for this class must:
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age on the date of application;
- Be a citizen of the United States;
- Possess a valid driver's license prior to and during employment;
- Have a good moral character, as determined by investigation;
- Complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority;
- Have no conviction for a felony;
- Agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointment authority;
- Supply a fingerprint sample in a manner prescribed by the TBI for a fingerprint based criminal history records check.
- Submit to and pass a pre-employment screening test for use of illegal drugs
- Ability to work nights, evenings, weekends and/or holidays as needed.
- Ability to work remotely or physical office location. To work remotely, must have access to a private and confidential workspace and access to hardwired internet services.
- Ability to manually type 40 wpm or higher.
Overview A person in this classification demonstrates skills to assess and analyze risk factors for child safety, interpret policies and procedures, is customer focused on their assigned region, and utilizes various resource mechanisms to execute quality case assignment decisions. A person in this classification reports to the Child Abuse Hotline Director or DCS Intake Team Coordinator. Responsibilities
- Performs quality reviews on all new intakes received from the Child Abuse Hotline. Ensures daily intake caseload is equitably assigned and workloads are appropriately completed each business day.
- Serves as a facilitator to review, accept, and/or request in-state courtesy visits, transfer requests, and court orders per regional protocols and DCS policies/work aids. Fosters communication and partnerships between program units (CPS, SIU, RL, Custodial, and Non-Custodial) to determine the appropriate case assignment decision in the best interest of the child and family.
- Contacts applicable collateral contacts to obtain additional intake information, assist with completing immediate assistance phone call requests, and to gather additional pertinent information to aid in new case assignment decisions for Child Death or Preliminary Near-Death pending intakes.
- Utilizes the designated DCS Screening Policies and Protocols to ensure each intake meets criteria for new case assignment. Triages each intake to determine urgency and efficiency in assignment. Conducts diligent historical searches in the DCS electronic database to determine if the intake is a duplicate, previously investigated, and/or if there is already an open case connected with the new intake.
- Maintains regional data intake tracking log(s). Provides regional leadership with weekly or monthly equity and assignment updates for regional staff and provides timely notifications to necessary parties regarding new case details, cases involving domestic violence, sever abuse, etc., and completes regional administrative tasks. Performs all designated pre-investigative tasks and analyzes available information to determine if intake meets criteria for reconsideration.
