Summary

MSOE invites applications for a full-time Athletic Trainer to join our Athletics team. Under the leadership of the Director of Sports Medicine, the Athletic Trainer provides athletic training services for MSOE's NCAA student-athletes, in accordance with MSOE Sports Medicine's and Athletic Department policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinates and delivers sports medicine/athletic training services to MSOE intercollegiate athletes including, but not limited to:

    • Coordination of physical exams, evaluation, and treatment of injuries and illnesses.
    • Sports medicine room/practice/event/competition coverage.
    • Design and supervise rehabilitation programs.
    • Counsel and educate within limits of expertise.


  • Assist with coordinating physician and other health care professional referrals and relationships.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operation of the sports medicine rooms.
  • Organizes and maintains daily medical and administrative records and assists with athletic medical insurance program (if applicable).
  • Supervises and monitors athletic training students and becomes a Preceptor for affiliated Athletic Training Education Programs.
  • Assist in First Aid/CPR/Blood-borne pathogen training for coaches and staff within the Athletic Department as requested.
  • Provided Athletic Training services for club sports as directed by Director of Sports Medicine.


Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and delivery of sports medicine specific policies and procedures including educational content for student-athletes and coaches.
  • Serve on university and/or department committees as needed.
  • Obtain/maintain CPR Instructor Certification to assist in CPR certification courses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
  • 2 years professional experience in collegiate athletics preferred.
  • NATA BOC certified.
  • Licensed in the State of Wisconsin as an Athletic Trainer or eligible.
  • Professional Rescuer CPR certified.
  • AHA BLS Instructor certified or eligible.
  • Valid Driver's License.


Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively in front of others. Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral form.
  • Ability to use numbers to solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.


Physical Demands

  • Must be able to function in an outpatient clinical environment.
  • Ability of stand for a long period of time, working with medical equipment and able to walk, run, kneel, stoop or crawl if needed.
  • Moderate strength is required to position patients for examination. May assist patients as needed, helping them on and off the exam table.


Work Environment

  • Must be able to work in a busy, fast-paced outpatient clinical environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
