Description
Position Summary: The Mechanical Apprentice will assist licensed tradesman with the installation or maintenance and inspection of mechanical systems and associated processes. Role and Responsibilities:
- Regular attendance at assigned location that may include office or other project sites
- Work with materials that include caste iron, PVC, polypropylene, copper (solder and pro-press), stainless steel, carbon steel
- Measure, cut, thread or bend pipe to required angle using hand or power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, or pipe-bending machines
- Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes or fixtures in structures
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing or fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolds or soldering equipment
- Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances, or fixtures using hand or power tools
- Test pipes of fixtures for leaks using various methods
Qualifications
Essential Skills & Characteristics:
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Follow plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers
- Strict adherence to all safety rules and quality
- Interact with all co-workers and clients in an attentive courteous manner
- At times may perform clerical/administrative duties
- Participate in site housekeeping
- Perform additional duties as direct by SOP's and employee handbook
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or relevant work experience
- Enrolled in Trade school and/or apprenticeship program
- OSHA 10 certification
- Understanding and development of daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
