Summary:

The Tax Manager - High Net Worth/Estates & Trusts role is a pivotal leadership position within the firm, offering the opportunity to oversee and manage a diverse portfolio of tax engagements. The Tax Manager will be responsible for leading a team of tax professionals, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tax returns, and providing strategic tax planning advice to clients. With a focus on client service excellence, this role will cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, working with the partner in delivering planning opportunities and tax solutions to clients. Additionally, they will play a key role in business development initiatives, identifying new opportunities for growth and expanding our client base.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage tax compliance, planning, and consulting services for HNW individuals, families, estates, and trusts.
  • Manage and review complex tax returns, including corporate, partnership, individual, gift, estate, and trust tax filings.
  • Conduct tax research and stay up to date with federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Devise innovative solutions for complex tax issues, leveraging deep understanding of tax laws and regulations.
  • Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures throughout all stages of client engagements.
  • Identify areas for improvement in firm processes and take proactive steps to address operational inefficiencies.
  • Ensure adherence to professsional standards with existing clients to deepen engagement and drive additional business opportunities.
  • Expand the firm's client base by networking within the business community and leveraging personal and professional connections.
  • Mentor, train, and develop junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior managers on complex tax matters and firm initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field is required.
  • Master's degree in accounting, tax or related field is preferred.
  • CPA or EA license is required.
  • 7-8+ years of experience preparing and reviewing tax returns required.
  • Strong tax technical knowledge, including analytical research, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in gift and estate planning involving trusts and preparation or review of forms 709 & 706.
  • Experience and knowledge in interplay of income tax (1040, 1041, 1065) and estate tax (709 & 706).
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software and financial analysis tools.
  • Ability to provide innovative tax planning and review complex income tax returns.
  • Stay current on legislation and related issues and has an understanding of how tax laws impact particular industries to provide client guidance and solutions.
  • Experience in representing client in tax audits.
  • Display in-depth understanding of the tax rules in area(s) of specialization.
  • Leadership skills to mentor and develop team members.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
  • Ability to build relationships and interact with clients to provide excellent planning, compliance and consulting services.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and maintain high-quality standards while working in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:

This role offers a competitive base salary along with a comprehensive benefits package. Salary ranges for U.S.-based positions are determined by geographic location and fall into one of three pay zones, which reflect the cost of labor in that area. The anticipated salary ranges for this position are outlined below and are subject to change:

  • $86,232 - $176,792

When determining compensation, we consider a variety of factors such as a candidate's professional experience, skills, and qualifications. Please note that final offer amounts may vary from the ranges listed above and may be adjusted over time.
