Clinical Dietitian- Duke Weight Loss Surgery Raleigh

Job Summary:

We are seeking aClinical Dietitian in our Duke Weight Loss and Minimally Invasive Clinic of Raleigh to coordinate all phases of nutrition care including nutrition assessment, care planning, monitoring, education and counseling patients. Provide nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy integrated with the patient's medical goals. Evaluating, interpreting, monitoring and documenting the nutritional status and nutritional needs of hospitalized patients and out patients using established standards of care and practice guidelines. Perform duties in support of and in compliance with performance improvement plans, JCAHO, and other licensing, accrediting, and regulatory agencies.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Group sessions

    • Coordinate educational materials.
    • Run group dietician portion of groups.


  • Patient Appointments:

    • Ensure template utilization

      • See patients both in person and virtually
      • Chart Reviews
      • Patient Surveys
      • Working with providers on orders for diet, supplement, enteral/parenteral nutrition and laboratory data per policy.




  • Epic

    • inbasket management: replying to messages received from other staff and patients. * Revewing clinic days to include precharting and chart reviews * Scheduling patients and rescheduling as needed


  • Work with vendors and following DHIP policy in regards to samples of supplements
  • Develop, review, update and implement educational materials to meet the needs of patients and professionals.
  • Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers
  • Coordinate with APPs, RDs and clinic staff on timeoff and clinic coverage
  • Maintain registered dietitian (RD) status including continuing professional education per the Professional Development Portfolio. Maintains North Carolina Board of Nutrition and Dietetics licensure. Precepting dietetic interns and provide on the job training for newly hired clinical staff.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described



Job Eligibility Requirements:



  • Work requires Baccalaureate degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, Human Nutrition, or comparable major.
  • Successful completion of coordinated program or dietetic internship of not less than 900 hours under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian.
  • One year in an acute care environment preferred, this position can be a new graduate candidate
  • RDN - Registered Dietician Nutritionist LDN - Licensed Dietician/Nutritionist by North Carolina Board of Dietics and Nutrition



Job Hours:

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays
