The Opportunity

TC Energy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our U.S. Rates and Regulatory Department as a Regulatory Analyst, reporting to the Manager of Project Authorizations. This role provides critical support to TC Energy's U.S. Natural Gas business, with a primary focus on certificate matters and related analyses for pipeline and storage facilities regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting USNG capital deployment. certificate filings, regulatory compliance, and project development activities. This position requires close collaboration with internal teams including Engineering, Marketing, Business Development, Rates, Tariffs, Legal, and other stakeholders to advance initiatives that impact both individual assets and the broader organization. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interpret and apply FERC regulations related to the construction and abandonment of interstate natural gas facilities.

What you'll do

  • Serve as a key regulatory contributor on cross-functional project development teams supporting TC Energy's U.S. natural gas assets under FERC jurisdiction, with guidance from senior team members, to help enable timely and cost-effective project execution.

  • Apply TC Energy's project evaluation workflow to assess regulatory authority and requirements for proposed natural gas projects.

  • Prepare and submit FERC applications for authorization to construct and operate pipeline and storage facilities, helping to advance infrastructure that supports market demand and customer commitments.

  • Coordinate and file annual reports with FERC detailing completed projects across all jurisdictional business units, contributing to transparency and regulatory compliance that protects TC Energy's license to operate.

  • Conduct research, analysis, and prepare summaries for special projects and non-routine regulatory requests, providing insights that inform commercial decision-making and risk management.

  • Support continuous improvement by identifying innovative approaches to streamline regulatory processes and enhance TC Energy's competitiveness in the U.S. natural gas market.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, environmental studies, law, or a related field.

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience (Internship experience will be considered).

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and disciplines.

  • Strong written communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships to support strategic execution.

  • Experience developing solutions to complex regulatory or project-related challenges.

  • Prior experience in the regulated pipeline industry and/or working knowledge of FERC regulations is strongly preferred.
