How you'll make an impact:

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Content Enablement team, you will lead the development of advanced tools and services that empower users to enrich, manage, and curate content efficiently. This role is central to our effort to protect our platform from spin fraud, unfair royalty payouts, and degraded user experiences at scale. You will own and evolve platform-level solutions for fraud prevention, architecting highly scalable, resilient, and modular systems that operate in adversarial environments. In this role, you will take on key leadership responsibilities, driving the evolution of our programming tools to ensure they are highly functional, intuitive, and seamlessly integrated across systems. You will architect scalable, modular solutions, focusing on long-term efficiency and alignment with company goals. Collaborating closely with product, data science, design, and infrastructure teams, you'll help define and lead feature development, driving projects from concept through implementation. In addition, you'll mentor engineers at multiple levels, raise engineering standards, and act as a go-to expert in distributed systems, fraud detection, and backend platform design.

What you'll do:

  • Own and define the technical architecture for fraud detection, content integrity, and listener behavior analysis systems.

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable services, filters, and tooling to detect and prevent automated/bot traffic across listener behavior.

  • Set and evolve long-term architecture and spin fraud prevention strategy by developing scalable detection frameworks and maintaining high system reliability.

  • Define front-end architecture (component standards, state management patterns, API contracts) to ensure maintainable and consistent tooling.

  • Drive cross-functional initiatives, collaborating with product, science, design, and infrastructure partners.

  • Mentor and coach engineers (including senior engineers), influencing best practices, system design quality, and technical rigor.

  • Establish engineering standards around testing, observability, deployment, and operational excellence.

  • Deploy and operate production services in AWS.

  • Pair with other team members when necessary.

What you'll need:

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including extensive experience building large-scale backend systems in Java.

  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional technical initiatives.

  • Strong experience designing, developing, testing and deploying web applications using common standards and frameworks.

  • Expert-level experience with AWS, including deploying applications using services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, ElastiCache, and IAM.

  • Strong experience with both SQL (RDS, Aurora) and Redis caching (ElastiCache).

  • Strong experience building modern web UIs with a component-based framework (e.g., Angular).

  • Experience with AWS networking, infrastructure-as-code (e.g., CloudFormation or Terraform), and monitoring best practices.

  • Experience in fraud detection, trust & safety is a strong plus.

  • Experience with writing automated tests.

  • Experience with web-based API design and development (e.g., GraphQL, REST).

  • Experience building stream processing systems using Kafka or AWS-native services.

  • Curious and open to developing expertise in anti-fraud systems, adversarial behavior analysis, and behavioral anomaly detection as part of the role.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Commitment to "internal client" and customer service principles.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.

  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must have the legal right to work in the U.S.
