Job Summary

The Product Development Supervisor supports the creation and enhancement of innovative P&C insurance products at West Bend. This role focuses on supervising product development activities, coordinating cross-functional efforts, and ensuring timely delivery of product initiatives. The supervisor promotes product thinking, supports modernization efforts, and guides team members through agile practices and execution. This role is instrumental in translating strategic product goals into actionable development plans.



Work Location

This position offers a hybrid work schedule. Candidates who are located within 50 miles of a West Bend office location will work a hybrid schedule for collaboration days, team meetings or other in-person events. The position can be based in West Bend, Madison or Appleton.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

    Supervise day-to-day product development activities, ensuring alignment with business goals and timelines.
  • Conduct market and competitive research to identify opportunities for new or improved P&C insurance products.
  • Analyze customer feedback and industry trends to inform product decisions.
  • Assist in drafting coverage forms and policy language tailored to specific market segments.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (e.g., underwriting, actuarial, IT, legal) throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ensure product filings and implementations comply with state and federal insurance regulations.
  • Collaborate with compliance and legal teams to monitor regulatory changes and adjust product offerings.
  • Support pricing strategy development in partnership with underwriting and actuarial teams.
  • Work with IT to enable digital product delivery and system configuration.
  • Assist sales and marketing teams with product positioning, training, and go-to-market planning.
  • Monitor product performance and customer satisfaction, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to product managers, fostering collaboration and continuous development.
  • Participate in personnel actions such as performance evaluations and development planning.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • 5 years of experience in product development within the P&C insurance industry.
  • 1 year of leadership experience.
  • Ability to mentor and develop others.
  • Understanding of P&C insurance principles, regulations, and market dynamics.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop creative solutions.
  • Communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in product lifecycle tools and project management software.
  • Ability to supervise multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with insurance regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with product management tools, data analysis tools, and regulatory filing systems.

Preferred Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field


Salary Statement

The salary range for this position is $106,451-$133,064.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. Compensation decisions are made by West Bend and are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
