Workforce Identity Cloud

Okta ORD (WIC) provides easy, secure access for your workforce so you can focus on other strategic priorities-like reducing costs, and doing more for your customers.

If you like to be challenged and have a passion for solving large-scale automation, testing, and tuning problems, we would love to hear from you. The ideal candidate is someone who exemplifies the ethics of, "If you have to do something more than once, automate it" and who can rapidly self-educate on new concepts and tools.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help drive our build, release, and testing infrastructure to the next level. You will focus on scaling and optimizing our systems for large-scale, high-performance deployments-reducing build times from days to mere minutes while maintaining high-quality releases. As part of our collaborative, fast-paced engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering tools and processes that support continuous delivery, test-driven development, and agile methodologies.

What you'll be doing

  • Design and Automate Multi-Cloud Infrastructure: Architect, implement, and manage highly available and scalable cloud-native platforms leveraging Kubernetes and Linux across multiple providers (e.g., AWS, GCP). Develop and maintain robust tools, pipelines, and deployment strategies to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management.
  • Drive CI/CD and Artifact Management: Own the setup, maintenance, and ongoing development of our Artifactory application suite (artifactories, cleanup, image publication). Create, maintain, and enhance fully automated, multi-environment CI/CD build processes to streamline software delivery and deployment.
  • Build and Optimise Core Services: Develop scalable, reliable, and extensible platforms, services, and tools using modern backend languages like Java, Python, or Go. Focus on automation, reliability, and security in all development efforts.
  • Enhance Operational Efficiency: Identify and eliminate manual processes and inefficiencies by implementing automated solutions to enhance operational efficiency and minimise human error. Develop self-service tools and processes to empower engineering teams to independently manage their infrastructure.
  • Platform Security and Compliance: Prioritise security by maintaining up-to-date base images, applying security patches, and implementing robust security measures. Create and maintain custom Amazon Machine Images (AMIs), optimising them for performance and security.
  • Reliability and Incident Management: Collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of production systems. Respond promptly to production incidents, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement effective preventive measures to ensure optimal system performance.

What you'll bring to the role

  • Experience & Technology:

    • 5+ years of professional experience automating and deploying large-scale production services in AWS, GCP, or similar cloud environments.
    • 5+ years of experience building, maintaining, and debugging services, internal tools, and frameworks.
    • 3+ years of hands-on experience with modern backend languages, such as Java, Go, or Python.

  • CI/CD & DevOps Expertise:

    • 5+ years of experience managing and improving CI/CD infrastructures, with strong proficiency in tools like Spinnaker, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or GitLab to ensure efficient software delivery.
    • In-depth knowledge of Artifactory, including instance builds, imaging, packaging, and distribution.

  • Cloud & Container Orchestration:

    • Strong understanding of Kubernetes fundamentals, cluster administration, and container orchestration.
    • Expertise in designing, building, and managing complex multi-cloud deployment pipelines.
    • Experience creating, configuring, and managing custom AMIs for various workloads and environments.

  • Operating Systems:
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux systems, including system administration, shell scripting, and security best practices.
