Position Summary

Integrated Security is responsible for the overall security of the company's personnel, physical and IT assets, and facilities. Based on security risks, Integrated Security establishes and continuously improves security policies, procedures & standards, infrastructure, human and technical preventive measures, employee security awareness, alarm and incident response capabilities, etc., to safeguard the company's business operations. This is an individual contributor position responsible for the design, installation, programming, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of electronic, Internet Protocol (IP) systems, network video servers all other security devices and automatic gates and operators. Completes work in accordance with the relevant codes and NERC regulations. Maintains technical expertise in dealing with access control systems, CCTV systems, IP protocols, IP technology, network video servers, electronic security equipment, locks and keys both smart and standard, security alarms, gates and operators etc. Resolve immediate operational and/or safety concerns; and assisting other skilled trades. On a bi-weekly basis, perform a call duty rotation.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Installs, monitors, maintains and repairs security equipment designed to safeguard and protect cyber-sensitive assets and for controlling access to such equipment.
  • Performs recordkeeping as required by North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Protocols.
  • Examines security and access control systems to locate, identify and repair problems. Including fiber, network issues, CAD 6, IP addresses and other networking technology.
  • Tests backup features, programming and other electronic/ IP security measures and countermeasures to ensure proper functioning and to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Installs security devices, panels, servers, alarm sensors, security cameras and covert cameras.
  • Installs, maintains or repairs security systems, alarm devices and related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts, network diagrams and building plans.
  • Integrate new systems into existing network architecture.
  • Patch equipment for security vulnerabilities to ensure that systems are safeguarded against outside parties.
  • Provide feedback on system and network requirements, including architecture and infrastructure.
  • Test and maintain security infrastructure including software and hardware.
  • Identifies improvements in existing processes needed to increase the level of efficiency.
  • Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and technologies.
  • Support in troubleshooting Information Technology (IT) Networking issues to determine equipment failures.
  • Performs other project and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Assists other trades personnel as may be required for supporting them in the completion of their work activities (i.e. coordination with systems administrators, networking, engineers, electricians, locksmith, carpenters, overseeing jobs to completion).
  • Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety/security concerns.
  • Attends meetings, workshops, training, and seminars to convey and/or gather information required to perform job.
  • Manages and coordinates security equipment installation during projects managed by other business units
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Familiar with local, state, and federal codes as they apply to security and life safety equipment.
Favorable driving record.
Accurate attention to detail and thorough organization skills.
Intermediate knowledge of computer, networks, and information technology related systems.
Knowledge of specific operation impact security lapses.
Knowledge of network traffic analysis methods.
Knowledge of physical security computer components and architectures, including the functions of various components and peripherals (e.g., CPUs, Cameras, Networking Gear).
Knowledge of security operations support or enabling processes.
Knowledge of physical and logical network devices and infrastructure to includes switches, routers, firewalls, etc...
Skill in evaluating available capabilities against desired effects to provide effective courses of action.
Skill in analyzing threat levels to control mitigations.
Ability to think critically Ability to understand objectives and effects.
Ability to meet goals and objectives with minimal direct supervision.
Ability to understand and review blueprints and network drawings.
Ability to select the proper type of cable/ fiber and perform installation in plenum or non-plenum rated environments.
Ability to work independently and resolve issues.
Ability to understands processes and procedures in specialized field.
Ability to work independently or as a member of a team, coordinating with others to achieve desired results.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Security or other related field
  • Certifications in the security technologies being used at CPS Energy
  • ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP) or higher

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, in all kinds of environments, working at heights in all kinds of weather and temperatures.
Must be able to operate computer equipment, must have manual dexterity, the ability to hear and speak the English language.
After hours work and overtime may be required. Call duty is required to respond to security equipment issues and repairs.
Physical Demands
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Requires the ability to climb stairs, bend and walk over rough terrain and the ability to stand for long periods of time. The ability to discern different colors.
