The Welder I
is an individual who can adapt to a fast paced, Sheetmetal shop environment focusing on on-time delivery of parts. This person should have a strong work ethic, is willing to learn and asks questions about manufacturing processes. They work respectfully within a team and are accountable for their work. This position is responsible for learning to weld a variety of different materials including carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, etc. This position requires ability to learn Basic blueprint reading skills and basic understanding of assembling weldments.
- Handle parts with care to avoid damage to finishes
- Ability to learn different types of welds including TIG, MIG and spot
- Ability to learn how to weld a variety of different metals and thicknesses from .050" to 1/8"
- Ability to grind welds per print with assistance
- Learn how to preform basic maintenance and cleaning on welders and water coolers with little assistance
- Set up and adjust welder for various thicknesses with assistance
- Daily inspections of equipment
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Function in a safe and reliable manner to prevent personal injury and/or property damage
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Ability to learn how to understand and interpret blueprints
- Ability to be flexible on daily tasks
- Mathematical skills
E Education & Professional Experience |
- High School diploma or GED required
- Manufacturing/fabrication experience preferred
- Entry level welding experience
PhysicalRequirements/Work Environment |
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand/power tools, etc. and handle and feel parts of various size
- Ability to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout the shift
- Ability to push, pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout the workday
- Ability to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focus
- Manufacturing environment where temperatures drastically change from season to season
- Environment where the following exposures exist: loud noise, moving mechanical parts and exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles
- Fast-paced environment
- Exposure to hazards including, but not limited to intense light created by the arc and extremely hot materials
- 5 - 8-hour shifts
- Overtime as necessary
- Flexible scheduling in agreement with supervisor
