Our team of Network Technicians care about technology and connecting customers to products they value. Through providing technical expertise and customer support, our Network Technicians create meaningful connections with customers that create long-term relationships.

What You'll Do:



  • Perform routine installation, maintenance, and repair activities for network systems including voice, data, network, transport, and video equipment.


  • Complete post installation tests for call processing functionality and AMA testing


  • Coordinate central office/network equipment, card/SFP insertions, translations, fiber cross-connects and inside wiring activities


  • Perform OTDR tests and understand results


  • Fixed wireless installation and maintenance


  • Safely operate and maintain clean and organized company service vehicle


  • Work in both inside and outside environments


  • Provide stand-by and on-call coverage


  • Maintain central office and remotes including routine and preventative maintenance items


  • Complete necessary safety training and follow safety standards and regulations


  • Report to the Network Infrastructure Local Manager



Do You Have?



  • Ability to understand CLR/DLR and engineering job packs


  • Ability to perform OTDR tests and understand results


  • Basic technology and math skills
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record


  • Ability to distinguish colors in use of color-coded cable


  • Ability to use equipment with maximum load capacity of 275 lbs.


  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work aloft


  • Ability to successfully complete required safety training


  • Ability to work assigned schedules and extended hours including day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours


  • Ability to respond to after hour callout


  • Ability to complete battery and generator testing


  • Knowledge in the following areas:


  • DS1/DS3 installation, testing, and troubleshooting


  • Analog Transport installation, testing, and troubleshooting


  • SONET OC3/12/48 installation, testing, and troubleshooting

  • Fiber training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (required)



  1. Internal Applicants mist have satisfactory performance in all respects of current position.
  2. If applicable, must successfully complete prerequisite training and testing.
  3. Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable.
  4. Must be able to effectively communicate with the public, co-workers, and managers.
  5. Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  6. Must be available for overtime, standby, after hours call-outs or work during non-scheduled hours.
  7. Must be available to work assigned schedules, including Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays.
  8. Must be capable of heaving lifting.
  9. Must be capable of working with and maintaining assigned tools and equipment.
  10. Must be neat in appearance, be able to write legibly, and prepare and maintain neat and accurate records.
  11. Must be willing and ready to work in any assigned location and attend schools for training, which may require over night travel as determined by the company.
  12. Must demonstrate the ability to learn and use a variety of current and future applications, test systems or information systems as they are developed.
  13. Must have a working knowledge of telephony outside plant including but not limited to drops, cross-boxes, fiber systems, terminals, etc.
  14. Must have a working knowledge of computers and any applicable applications.
  15. Must successfully complete all necessary safety training including ladder safety.
  16. Must meet weight requirements as defined by Kinetics Safe Load Limits for Equipment and Ladders Policy.
  17. Must participate in Kinetic Rewards program, which includes selling Company products and services to existing/potential customers.
  18. Must reside within a reasonable distance of assigned reporting center.


Minimum Requirements (required)


Experience



  1. 1-3 years of Central Office (CO) or Network Operations Center (NOC) experience on Central Office equipment (required)
  2. 3-5 years' experience in engineering, installation or maintenance of telecommunications voice and data network services equipment, or equivalent education (desired).
  3. Prior I&R, Customer Service, and/or Electrical experience (desired).


Education


High School equivalent or Equivalent.


Certification


Must maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record
