Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The School of Government works to improve the lives of North Carolinians by engaging in practical scholarship that helps public officials and citizens understand and improve state and local government. The School offers up to 200 courses, webinars, and conferences for more than 12,000 public officials each year. Faculty members annually publish approximately 50 books, reports, articles, bulletins, and other instances of print and online content related to state and local government. The School is also home to a nationally ranked graduate program in public administration. |
Position Summary |
The Research Assistant will assist Professors Kimalee Dickerson and Carl Stenberg with a qualitative research project examining the experiences of local government employees in North Carolina. Duties and responsibilities for the position include conducting a literature review, analyzing previously collected interview data, and assisting with writing reports/articles about the research project |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Ability to observe, collect, and record a variety of data/information, within well-defined research parameters.
Ability to documents data/information collected.
Basic knowledge of the research principles and methods of data entry, collection, and analysis to complete defined assignments.
Basic knowledge of statistics and information technology to collect and report data/information related to the area of research.
Ability to use established data/information systems, functions, and/or procedures to collect and store data/information.
Ability to review data and information for completeness and accuracy within well-defined research parameters.
Ability to communicate and explain established protocols and status of research during data/information collection and processing.
Ability to present compiled data/information in established formats. |
