Position Summary

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer maintains manufacturing process and layout improvements, machine capabilities documentation, and is a resource for fabricators on the shop floor in structural welding and machining applications. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer provides on-site support and interacts with all OTECH departments as necessary to provide technical support to Production Group management and technicians for OTECH manufacturing, engineering, and test activities.


Duties And Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL:

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT:

  • Perform process analysis, process improvements, process design and control including metrics, goals, targets and standardization.
  • Ensure document management and manufacturing control compliance.
  • Lead on-going efforts to optimize the layout of manufacturing and create the justification needed to warrant any changes.
  • Actively participate in Non-Conformance Report (NCR) dispositions.
  • Create lessons learned log.
  • Evaluate parts, weldments, and assemblies based on Design for Manufacturability and recommend changes and best practices to engineers.

SHOP EQUIPMENT:

  • Conduct or assist with failure investigations.
  • Attend trade shows and stay current with latest manufacturing technologies to aid in future road maps.
  • Justifies manufacturing equipment upgrade, replacement and disposal.

MANUFACTURING EXPERTISE:

  • Support fabricators on the floor in weld mapping, bracing, and drawing interpretation.
  • Provide general shop support including fixturing design and resource recommendations. Investigate and answer design and drawing questions.
  • Participate in the sourcing of machined and fabricated components to internal and external resources.

ADDITIONAL:

  • Ensure Design and Production maintain OTECH Quality objectives.
  • Program and operate additive manufacturing equipment and support rapid prototyping efforts.
  • Demonstrate leadership in safety initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
  • 3-5 years of Engineering experience in a metal manufacturing environment
  • Minimum two (2) years manufacturing experience with machine, fabrication, welding, and assembly shop operations
  • Familiarity with CNC machining processes; ability to write programs is a plus
  • Familiarity with welding processes, welding symbols, base materials, and best practices
  • Basic understanding of ASME Y14.5 2009 and its interpretation and application of Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances
  • Proficiency in the application of current engineering software (i.e. SolidWorks, Creo etc.)
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be able to obtain a United States Government Security Clearance

DESIRED:

  • Hands-on experience in welding or machining.
  • Working knowledge of process improvement methods.
  • Experience working in an ISO environment.
  • Manufacturing experience with additive manufacturing equipment and composite materials.
  • Manufacturing experience with advanced, corrosion resistant stainless steel and titanium materials.
  • Knowledge in forging or casting processes.
  • Knowledge in metal surface finishes and post-processing techniques.

We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package. Annualized pay rate for this position: $76,500 - $103,500.
