POSITION SPECIFICS The Department of Mathematics at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park Campus, State College, PA, USA) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position inComputational Mathematics. The search is open to any area in Numerical Analysis, Foundations of Machine Learning, Data Driven Methods, Quantum Computing, or other areas within Computational Mathematics. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program; and will demonstrate the potential to contribute to the department's and college's teaching and service mission. The anticipated starting date for this appointment is Summer or Fall of 2026. The duties include research, teaching, supervision of student research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and service to the university and the greater professional community. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate interest in and capacity for developing a strong, independent research program, and teaching and mentorship excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Competitive applicants for the rank of Assistant Professor will possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent terminal degree) in Mathematics or a closely related field before beginning employment at Penn State. Candidates seeking the rank of Associate Professor should have the same qualifications as the rank of assistant professor, as well as a strong track record of scholarly achievement, external funding, and demonstrated success in teaching and service. Candidates for Full Professor should have the same qualifications as the rank of associate professor, as well as a track record of research publications, funding, teaching, and service that distinguishes them, nationally or internationally. The Mathematics Department at Penn State has a history of excellence in both pure and applied mathematics with groups in number theory, dynamical systems, geometry, algebra, analysis and partial differential equations, applied mathematics and numerical analysis. The Department seeks to advance its robust agenda of research that fosters interdisciplinary connections across departments.The department hosts several research centers: the Anatole Katok Center for Dynamical Systems and Geometry, the Center for Computational Mathematics and Applications, the Center for Mathematical Biology, and the William G.
