DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Clerical Assistant 2 in this position will provide clerical support to all personnel of the Forensic DNA Division Office, as well as investigators who may call or visit the Office. You will perform clerical duties associated with the Commonwealth's DNA Databank and Database, as well as Requests for Forensic Analysis from law enforcement. Prepares and types various correspondence and reports while proofreading to ensure they are completed in a grammatically correct manner and consistent with Department regulations. Utilizes CLEAN to retrieve or correct convicted offender information for the DNA Database, and performs data entry of convicted offender data into the STaCS DB database.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Two years or more of experience using Microsoft Word.
- Two years or more of experience proofreading and editing various types of materials to ensure grammatical correctness and completeness.
- Two years or more of experience maintaining databases, spreadsheets, and logs.
- One year or more of experience answering and assisting with incoming telephone calls.
- One year or more of experience utilizing various office equipment such as a personal computer, copying machine and facsimile machine.
- One year or more of experience working in a position that requires maintaining a filing system
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
