The IT & Electronic Systems Specialist's responsibility is the setup and maintenance of Revit models for the Telecom/Security Electronics Systems group. This role supports other members of the Telecom/Security Electronics Systems team with the production and management of drawings and data within the Revit model environment. Additionally, this role supports the needs of the team at large. This is an early career/junior level position that can create a strong foundation in low voltage technology and design principles that will eventually lead to a design role.



RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) support, including:

    • Set up low voltage models based on the project architectural model
    • Set up project models using developed templates
    • Input model content as directed by project low voltage designers and other team members
    • Model conduits, cable tray and other components and coordinate with other disciplines.
    • Perform clash detection.
    • Assist Sr. IT & ES Specialists in coordinating the low voltage discipline work with Architecture, Structural, and MEP disciplines
    • Printing/Plotting of drawings
    • Creation and maintenance of Revit families
    • Assists Sr. IT & ES Specialists in Quality Assurance of existing workflows
    • Quality Control checks on final plotted sheets
    • Ensure BIM standards and guidelines are followed
    • Uses client management systems for documents and drawings


  • Compile and submit low voltage construction drawings and specifications to Architects for final deliverable to clients.
  • Assist Sr. IT & ES Specialists in clash detection and conflict resolution with MEP and other systems
  • Work under the supervision of Sr. IT & ES Specialists


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Construction Management, related fields, or equivalent career experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Revit 3D BIM environment and experience working on a wide variety of building types, such as commercial, corporate, institutional and civic, justice, science and technology, aviation, and healthcare facilities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of low voltage systems (Telecommunications, Security, Audio-visual) in at least one of the following sectors is preferred: commercial, corporate, institutional and civic, justice, aviation, healthcare, science and technology.
  • Introductory knowledge of BICSI and TIA/EIA standards, NEC, local area networks is preferred.
  • EIT is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of construction disciplines and bid documents.


SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:



  • Understanding of Revit functions and automated processes.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Revit to produce construction documents
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Proficient in using Bluebeam software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to produce deliverables based on guidance from low voltage designers.
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Possess enthusiasm to learn new technologies
  • Ability to support several projects simultaneously
  • Excellent time management skills
