Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent plus 12 years of professional experience to include 5 years of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of higher education experience
  • 3-5 years of Banner student system experience
  • Experience with SaaS based Enterprise Student Systems


Position Summary
The Associate CIO for Student Information Systems creates a technology vision and provides the overall leadership for development, implementation, and on-going maintenance of integrated enterprise-wide information system solutions, including coordination and facilitation of an integrated, commercial packaged student information system ( BANNER and related products) at a very large, research-oriented institution. Oversees services provided to internal and external customers across the enterprise.

  • Leads and directs the work of EITS teams responsible for the ongoing support, enhancement, and integration of the UGA enterprise student information system (Banner and related products).
  • Ensures reliability, performance, and alignment with institutional goals.

Strategic Planning and Team Development:

  • Approves business technology and human resources plans for assigned areas.
  • Meets regularly with teams to review work status, identify obstacles, and provide coaching, guidance, and constructive feedback.
  • Encourages staff to identify, pilot, and adopt AI-powered solutions that improve team performance, reduce manual workload, and enhance service delivery.

  • Oversees all vendor management activities, ensuring adherence to UGA policies and best practices around change management, security, and system integrity.

  • Works closely with the Core Student Advisory Committee (CSAC) on the student information system, providing upgrade timelines, implementation plans, and technical guidance.

  • Provides strategic leadership to support the institution's transition to SaaS-based enterprise systems and related cloud-native technologies, aligning modernization efforts with long-term scalability, security, and user-centric design.
  • Coaches teams on decision-making, prioritization, and IT/business alignment.
