About the Department The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences offers both an undergraduate degree in speech, language, hearing sciences and a graduate degree in speech-language pathology, with an optional concentration in bilingual (Spanish-English) service provision. The Bookhardt Family Speech-Language Clinic is a no-cost, on-campus clinic that supports the greater Denver-metro community. Our department strives to improve how knowledge is translated from the classroom to the clinic by breaking down traditional educational silos. Position Summary The Department of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions.The primary responsibility of this position is to teach one or more credit hours as determined by the department; areas of teaching include undergraduate and graduate courses.Teaching assignments are to the undergraduate and/or graduate program depending on department need and qualifications/expertise of applicants. Responsibilities The primary responsibility of affiliate faculty is to teach one or more credit hours as determined by the Department of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences. Faculty are required to provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Areas of teaching include undergraduate and graduate courses. In addition, faculty must be available for consultation with students outside of classes either in-person or remotely. Faculty will conduct student assessments as prescribed by the curriculum and must be willing to adhere to policies and procedures regarding students and faculty as established by the University and Department.Affiliate faculty in SLHS actively participate in the effective evaluation of individual students, individual courses, and - as needed - programmatic assessment. Affiliate faculty should teach class content based on the syllabus and follow any department guidelines. Responsibilities also include holding office hours, following university policies on student evaluations, and participating in peer reviews. Applicants may be asked to teach in various formats-face-to-face, online, or a mix-depending on course needs. Flexibility and willingness to learn new teaching methods are important. Candidates should also be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student body. Terms of Employment Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester-by-semester basis. Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University's benefit program. All such teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment. Qualified candidates will be expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire. Salary for Announcement The final salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate determined by university policy.
