The general salary range for this position is $50-$69K and the position is based out of our corporate office in Indianapolis.

This managerial position at Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana (GCSI) provides healthy operations and environments at all GSCI locations. The Supervisor, Facilities Technicians leads a team consisting of team leaders and staff; ensuring the overall Scope of Work, subcontracts, and compliance documentation of designated contracts. Coaches, manages, and directs staff; including hiring, training, and developing staff on Goodwill's vision, mission, and business goals. Creates and defines operational expectations with respect to departmental procedures, policies, and standards of work performance. Creates and personally leads a culture of continuous improvement; staying abreast of industry trends and best practices. Continuously focuses on quality, customer relations, and contract compliance.

Example Duties and Activities

  • Collects and evaluates performance data and reviews and improves work processes as necessary.

  • Oversees, directs, and assists Technicians engaged in troubleshooting, repairing, and completing routine maintenance of the facility including painting and the lawncare, including application of pesticides and for the physical grounds at all GCSI locations. Ensures a safe and productive work environment, certifies product quality, guarantees customer satisfaction, and promotes continuous improvement.

  • Assists direct reports in improving work behaviors and skills acquisition to enhance their success with employment; establishes regular contact to keep employees engaged and motivated.

  • Establishes a culture of high performance, communication, and transparency. Motivates the team to achieve daily goals. Implements professional development and succession plans for self and key staff.

  • Performs any and all technician duties in times of staffing vacancies, during the training of new team members, or to ensure reaching customer expectations and departmental goals including machinery repair, preventative maintenance, and application of pesticides. Operates basic hand and machine tools adhering to all safety procedures.

  • Travels to off-site locations by company service vehicle to perform grounds services and routine maintenance, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical, and furniture relocation.

  • Ensures timely updating and completion of work orders using the CMMS inputting maintenance data and repair information.

  • Communicates daily and works effectively and professionally with Facilities management, customers, service contractors, and others to coordinate scheduling and repair activities.

  • Maintains all training requirements for the position, while seeking out opportunities for continuous development and growth. Cross-trains and assists in other areas to build skill base and value within the department.

  • Through the use of CMMS and various reports; tracks, reviews, and reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Establishes and oversees the guidelines for quality and safety initiatives. Reviews documentation of site activities.

  • Facilities Management Expertise - Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of an organization's buildings, ensuring that they meet legal requirements and health and safety standards in a continuous improvement environment, ideally with an emphasis on CIMS. Manages service contract(s) including creating and managing a budget. Managing multiple sites or locations is a plus.

  • Project Management - Oversees several work streams and delivers against complex scopes implementing strategies that outline time, resources, requirements, deadlines, and answers to unexpected events in order to streamline operations.

  • Communication Skills - Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend customer and employee needs. Delivers information in person, in writing, and in a digital world.

  • Technical Knowledge - Has working knowledge of G Suite, MS Office, and the Internet. Prior Experience using a CMMS to handle work orders and PM checklist is an additional plus.

  • Results-Oriented - Is moved to recognize what results are important and what steps need to be taken to achieve goals or targets for self or others. Adept at effectively prioritizing multiple priorities.

  • Moderate to Hard Physical Work - when modeling work performance for the staff, may walk and frequently be required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Can manage frequent exposure to dust, dirt, debris, and dust particles in the air. May regularly be exposed to slippery floors and moving mechanical parts of equipment. The noise level is generally low.

  • Visual Acuity - Has close and distance vision abilities and is able to adjust focus.

  • Background Screening - All candidates must pass a pre-employment background check.
