MAA is currently accepting applications for the position of Safety Data Manager (Administrator III) within the Office of Safety and Risk Management at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Managing, collecting, and analyzing incident/accident data for hazard identification, risk mitigation, and compliance with FAA Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
  • Creating and maintaining databases to record and analyze incidents, accidents, and near-miss data for internal office reporting, FAA-mandated reporting, and organizational safety analysis.
  • Ensuring that all data collected and reports adhere to FAA, OSHA, and other applicable legal and regulatory requirements, producing measurable results that strengthen the organization's safety and risk management efforts.
  • Assisting the Risk Manager in developing safety performance metrics-including FAA safety performance indicators, workers' compensation trends, and insurance metrics-to streamline reporting and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Conducting field observations and follow-up investigations on incident reports to validate and resolve reported safety concerns, ensuring thorough analysis in line with FAA SMS hazard identification and risk assessment standards.
  • Creating and maintaining spreadsheets and tools for the annual collection and submission of regulatory data, including FAA and OSHA requirements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal standards.
  • Supervising temporary staff, such as data entry clerks, to ensure efficient data management practices, adherence to FAA/OSHA protocols, and consistent application of safety reporting standards.

This position is located at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in Anne Arundel County, MD.


Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Six years of experience in administrative staff or professional work. * One year of this experience must involve the collection, analysis, and reporting of incident/accident data, hazard identification and/or risk mitigation for compliance for FAA, OSHA or similar safety reporting standard and/or protocol.

Minimum Qualifications for this classification. Selective Qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skills or abilities).

Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Licenses & Certifications

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
