OPEN RECRUITMENT This is a position-specific recruitment. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) position/function only. The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes, across the State of Maryland. Nature of Work: The Construction Scheduling Manager is responsible for managing the Scheduling Program in the Division of Construction, Office of Engineering and Construction (OEC). The employee is responsible for supervising consultant work products and performance for all schedule analysis, reporting, and progress evaluation. This position acts as an advisor to all OEC Area Engineers and Project Managers on MDTA policies, procedures, and industry-recognized best practices for scheduling. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Supervise project scheduling consultant contractors for all MDTA construction projects;
- Schedule and conduct joint meetings between contractors, engineers, and project review consultants;
- Review the algorithm and methodology for scheduling a set of project activities;
- Update progress on the project schedule of record each month based on monthly field updates;
- Examine and evaluate the critical path in the project schedule to determine the end date in the project schedule;
- Create an Activities Chart (AC) Project Schedule based on the contractor's submittal and written narrative;
- Examine and evaluate the AC Project Schedule to determine the correctness and end date of the project schedule; and
- Review and track MDTA construction projects' financial status to provide quarterly statistical reports.
Employees in this position will report directly to the Deputy Director of Construction. The current vacancy exists in Baltimore, MD. Hybrid telework schedules may be available for this position. Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university. Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in professional engineering. ** Two (2) years of this experience must include reviewing Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules for large-scale or mega construction projects. (e.g. $50 million to $1 billion projects involving both public and private stakeholders) **This statement contains a SELECTIVE QUALIFICATION, which is more focused in scope than the Minimum Qualifications for this classification. Selective Qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities). No substitutions are allowed for a Selective Qualification. Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements. |
