General Function:

The Product Innovation Researcher will work across the Technology, Product, and Strategy organizations and collaborate with the Lines of Business and cross-functional partners to envision and demonstrate the future potential of Fifth Third Bank's products, services, and architecture. The Product Innovation Researcher understands the importance of human-centered design and the impact of technology on crafted experiences. As a Product Innovation Researcher at Fifth Third Bank, this individual will contribute to the understanding of our customers and colleagues and the ways in which the bank can align our technology and capabilities to best serve their needs. This person's work will enable teams to rapidly evaluate and apply new technologies in a meaningful manner and help to improve our product innovation and development practices.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. This position acts as the liaison between the innovation organization and the line of business production product teams. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct and share qualitative and quantitative research into customer needs, competitive product capabilities, industry trends, and relevant technology innovations

• Understand Fifth Third Bank's legacy and future state technology and product architectures

• Contribute to the evolving vision for Fifth Third Bank as a product-led enterprise, innovating rapidly on a modern technology stack to remain relevant, innovative, and dominant in an uncertain future

• Identify and strategize opportunities to further the development and expansion of enterprise technology capabilities by aligning with customer and product innovation needs

• Display mastery of Agile / Lean UX methodologies

• Contribute to management of usage analytics and Voice of the Customer solutions, mining usage data, and communicating findings to stakeholders

• High attention to detail; extremely strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ideal candidate for this role is highly encouraged to find ways to cultivate and share knowledge and best practices with peers and collaborators.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability Required:

• BA or Certification in Design or a STEM Field

• 5-7 years of experience in a field that directly or readily translates to the responsibilities of this role

• Ability to own and articulate design decisions

• Basic understanding of agile product development

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Exposure and/or training in Design Thinking principles and methodologies is advantageous

• Knowledge of research and visual prototyping tools such as Morae Observer, Camtasia, Axure, InVision, Adobe CC, etc.

• Knowledge of digital asset (i.e. cryptocurrency) technologies and landscape

• Works iteratively. Decides and acts appropriately when all available information may not be possible to obtain. Makes small, informed decisions and course corrects as a result of feedback to those decisions.

• Translates user-centered innovation design requirements into technical implementations for prototypes. Continuously measures deliverables of self and team against scheduled commitments. Effectively balances different, competing objectives.

• Identifies new innovation opportunities based on design thinking principles and prior outcomes.

• Expresses technology options to collaborators. Goes beyond merely suggesting design technologies and clearly articulates the rationale and benefit of design technology choices.

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
