The Department of Chemistry at Columbia University invites applications for an Associate Research Scientist with an expertise in polymer chemistry and battery technology. The position will begin December 8, 2025, with the possibility of renewal, subject to work eligibility and the usual standards for satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. The successful candidate will have experience in polymer synthesis, characterization, processing, and studying polymer electrolytes.

Responsibilities include creating and testing materials in batteries and electrochemical devices. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in battery fabrication and testing. This position requires collaboration between academic research and industrial research and will provide support and opportunities for research careers in industry.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Research emphasis with at least 1-5 years of relevant experience in chemistry, material science, physics, or engineering. Post- doctoral experience, in-depth knowledge of instrument operation and maintenance, strong data analysis and interpretation skills, excellent communication skills in oral and written English, ability to work independently as well as part of a team, flexibility to interact with a diverse group of researchers, and a willingness and ability to train students with diverse backgrounds.
