Payroll and Benefit Administrator

Our team thrives in a supportive, dynamic environment, and we're seeking a dedicated Payroll and Benefits Administrator to join our on-site collaborative Human Resources team at our Corporate Office in Eagan, Minnesota.

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Administrator with a strong background in benefits administration to manage and enhance our employee benefits programs. This role will provide exceptional support to our workforce, ensuring seamless administration of benefits and HR systems while maintaining compliance and improving processes.

Benefits Administration



  • Administer daily operations of employee benefits plans, including enrollment, eligibility tracking, benefit billings and issue resolution.
  • Reconcile benefit invoices and payroll reports to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing clear guidance and education on plan options and policies.
  • Develop proactive communication materials for benefits plans, open enrollment, and wellness programs.
  • Partner with HRIS Analyst to maintain HRIS systems, focusing on benefits setup, open enrollment processes, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Support compliance efforts by preparing data for annual reporting, audits, and participant notifications.
  • Collaborate with benefit brokers and HR leadership to evaluate plan performance, analyze trends, and recommend improvements.
  • Continuously improve benefits processes to enhance efficiency and employee experience.



Payroll Processing



  • Accurately enter and update employee data in various systems for new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and other personnel-related changes.
  • Answer employee questions related to pay and time reporting.
  • Calculate and pay commissions.
  • Assist with processing bi-weekly payroll as needed.


Qualifications



  • 5+ years of experience in payroll and benefits administration, preferably in a multi-state environment.


  • Proficient with HRIS systems (UKG experience a plus) and Microsoft Word
  • Proven advanced skills in Excel, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with employees and vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with electronic benefits systems and a focus on process improvement.
  • Certification in benefits specialty areas or willingness to pursue certification.
  • Knowledge of federal and state benefits regulations, filing and compliance


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with ACA reporting
  • CEBS certification


  • Bachelor's in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience.
