What You Will Do:

Under the general direction of the Tax Counsel, Tax Controversy, you will assist on all aspects of US federal and state tax controversy matters, including researching and defending the company's positions, developing audit strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to respond to inquiries, and assisting in managing the day-to-day relationships with the tax authorities. This is an excellent opportunity to join our team and make an immediate impact on ongoing disputes.

How You Will Do It:

  • Collaborate with other members of the tax team, including tax planning, transfer pricing, compliance, and others, to prepare audit-ready project files and to respond to inquiries from federal and state tax authorities.

  • Develop strong working relationships with Treasury, Legal, HR, and other cross-functional teams.

  • Help manage relationships with outside advisors.

  • Prepare, update, and organize information in response to requests from tax authorities, including but not limited Information Document Requests, Notices of Proposed Adjustments, Protests of Proposed Examination Changes, etc.

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on a variety of complex US, international, and transfer pricing matters.

  • Organize and maintain controversy files utilizing appropriate audit management tools.

  • Support organization process improvements and leverage technology to increase efficiency and quality of work.

What We Look For:

Required

  • 4+ years of tax or other relevant experience with a law firm, accounting firm, or industry.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple competing deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively handle and resolve tax-related issues.

  • Self-motivated and an ability to work independently.

  • Ability to maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and tax authorities.

Preferred

  • Tax controversy experience

  • CPA, admission to the bar of at least one state, or other industry certification.

  • Experience with HFM, OneStream, Corptax, Bloomberg Corporate Tax Analyzer, Deloitte Tax Controversy Manager, or other similar programs.

This will be a hybrid position at our Glendale, WI office. It requires 3 days in office.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $86,000 -$115,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
